Wildcats Camps and Clinics

Wildcats Baseball is excited to offer a wide variety of camps & clinics for players of all ages & skill levels. Our professional coaches bring a wealth of knowledge & experience and look forward to working with young athletes looking to further their baseball development. Our baseball camps provide players the opportunity to work with our highly trained coaching staff and experience baseball training in a unique way.

 

We have skill-specific baseball camps for athletes looking for focussed training as well as some general development camps which are great for building a strong fundamental base.

Players do not need to be students of Webber Academy to attend camps and clinics.

All 2021 camps will take place at the Webber Academy campus located at 1515 93rd Street SW, Calgary, Alberta T3H 4A8. 

 

Please drop your child off no more than 15 minutes prior to the session at the South parking lot roundabout located next to the Webber Academy Performing Arts Centre.

MULTI-SESSION CLINICS

PITCHING

    • Discuss 4 seam fastball grips and basic throwing patterns
    • Practice the correct body movement sequence for throwing
    • Flat ground sessions

 

  • NOV 20th 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM 
    • Learn how to use your legs in the pitching motion
    • Learn how to separate your hips from your shoulders in the pitching motion
    • Learn the most efficient arm paths
    • Take home drills and flatground sessions to practice these components

    • Learn how to properly throw off speed pitches on flat ground
    • 1st on mound bullpens and velocity training (with Pocket Radar)
    • Individual mechanical corrections

 

  • DEC 4th 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM 
    • More on mound bullpens, this time with off speed
    • Practice the finer side of pitching
      • Pickoffs
      • Slide steps
      • Pitcher fielding practice

    • On mound full bullpens
    • Experiment and learn with Rapsodo Pitching 2.0

 

HITTING

  • NOV 14th 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
    • Discuss the hitting stance, grip, weight distribution and transfers
    • Review the sequencing of joints and the path that the bat takes through the entirety of the swing
    • Learn how to properly set up and use a tee, and what hitters should be looking to achieve with each swing
    • Learn how to properly feed and swing during front toss and side toss drills
    • Explore different contact points and when to utilize them

    • Explore the finer details of hand path and how to extend the amount of time you spend on plane in the hitting zone
    • 1 hand drills and other drills to improve barrel control
    • Individual mechanical work/drills

    • Review the role that our feet, legs, and hips play in the swing
    • Learn how to control your body when you transfer your weight
    • Determine the right stance for your swing
    • Lower half specific drills and practice

    • Situational Hitting (hit and runs, directing the ball where you want it)
    • Bunting (sacrifice and for base hits)

Fall Single Session Skill Camps

Have an area or two of your game that you need to work on? Curious about what the Wildcats Baseball Winter Skill Sessions will focus on?  Come take part in a focused skill session in a small group setting!  Each single session will demonstrate our coaching staff’s knowledge of the game and how you can expect a practice to run during our Winter Skill Sessions (Coming soon).  Start times are staggered so you can participate in a variety of skills (pitching, catching, fielding, hitting) and see which ones you feel you will benefit the most from!  These sessions are designed for players aged 12-15.
